swimmingWhen Rosemont was first developed in the late 1950’s it featured a community cabana club with an excellent swimming pool, picnic grounds and small club house. For decades, families joined and used it as their social center, particularly in the summer. It was not unusual for kids to head to the club in the morning and get home for dinner – or families would go there to have a picnic dinner and enjoy the pool. In later years the members built 3 excellent tennis courts, further expanding the appeal of the club. And the Rosemont Swim and Diving Team for years competed well with other youth clubs around the Sacramento area.

Unfortunately, as families grew and moved on, and more families became two wage households, and the general demographics of Rosemont evolved, fewer families were members and eventually the club closed and the property was sold. But “older” Rosemont families still recall the many fun times and parties there. It was indeed a key part of our community and many lasting friendships started there.

As part of our effort to capture some of those memories, RCA is seeking photos, memorabilia and stories from those who were part of the Rosemont Cabana Club. If you have anything to share, please let us know by emailing info@rosemontca.org or calling 916-936-1959. Thanks.
