One of the fastest ways a community can slide in reputation is by having code violations. Each of us can help prevent these by promptly reporting problems before they become the norm. For example, County code limits yard sales to no more than three two-day yard sale per year at the property where the sale operator resides. Signs for such sales can only be placed on the sale property and cannot exceed a total of 12 square feet. Vehicles parked in yards must be on paved surfaces, not on grass or planted areas. Commercial vehicles are restricted to no more than one hour parked in residential areas unless actively working. And be careful not to park with your wheels up on the sidewalk, easy to do on our rolled curbs, lest you get a ticket. And of course, obey all speed limits, being especially attentive near schools when kids are present. The CHP will be watching for drivers who endanger kids when going to and coming from school. If you see County code violations the fastest and easiest way to report is to call 311 or report on line at www.311.saccounty.net. If it is a vehicle code problem, including speeding or dangerous driving, call the CHP at 911.
