landscape 7bOver the last few months we’ve noticed that a number of homes in Rosemont have reacted to the drought by doing a major re-landscaping job, eliminating all or much of their lawns and adding new xeriscaping that greatly reduces water usage. It also has the effect of making the front yard more attractive by eliminating the possibility of weeds replacing the old lawn, and even adding a bit of color to the area. While this may be a major and permanent commitment for some owners, there is much that can be done for a smaller investment. At the least, we can be sure that the “golden” weeds are kept cut low and the trees are watered enough to survive and not die. A few low-water native plants might be added, and maybe some decorative rocks. Some of our blocks have done a nice job of maintaining during this trying dry time and our compliments to those property owners. We want to encourage more residents to follow this lead and help make Rosemont a community of which we can all be proud.
