Rosemont Community Association Volunteer, Monique Starks, organized a garden make-over for this local elementary school. Members of the Rosemont Community Association, First Covenant Church, and Golden Empire’s Garden Club and staff contributed their time and effort. Approximately 25 volunteers made a difference by weeding the garden beds and tilling the soil just in time for fall and winter planting. Classroom areas were weeded and spruced up for students to plant spring-time bulbs. Volunteers also planted new trees and bushes to improve Golden Empire’s landscaping. Four new picnic tables were constructed to allow for students to be instructed in their new Outdoor Classroom right next to the school garden.

While the volunteers were left tired at the end of the day, they left knowing that the students, staff, and community will greatly appreciate and benefit from their altruistic efforts!
