holiday safetyAs we decorate our homes inside and out for the holidays, always be extremely careful to do it safely, from using great care in hanging decorations to the quality and condition of the decorations you use. If you have to go up on ladders be sure they are on stable and level ground and are firmly resting on a stable brace at the top; and ideally have someone to assist and alert you if anything is amiss. Inside, be sure all you decorations are safe from fire. Put noting flammable near an open flame; don’t overload electric cords; keep Christmas trees well-watered; be sure decorations are secured from pets or small children knocking them over. And be extra careful to protect your identity and gifts. Don’t have packages left on your porch or visible in your car where they can be taken; be watchful when using credit or debit cards so your pin or other data are not stolen; don’t carry more packages than you are willing to lose to a “grab and go” thief; always be mindful of your surroundings, and don’t go places alone where someone might attack you. And, of course, be attentive that your children are also properly cautions and prepared to be safe as well.
