004Several dozen people attended the August RCA Board meeting and contributed to a lively and energizing discussion of issues facing our community – as should happen at a community meeting. The health and vitality of Rosemont is dependent on people caring and willing to be involved. Among the many topics discussed and actions taken were:

  • Discussed plans for the Celebration of Community on August 22. Watch this site for more details in the days ahead, and plan to enjoy this fun event.
  • Finalized plans for an RCA annual report to be distributed at the August 22 Celebration and then posted on this web site.
  • Discussed how best to respond to social media postings to keep people informed of local services, solutions or plans. This included a reminder that people can contact RCA by phone message at 916-936-1959.
  • Considered a draft board orientation guide to help those interested in serving on the board to better understand what is involved and expected.
  • Considered a draft report detailing the key issues which RCA would want the County (and other agencies) to address so Rosemont can continue to become a more appealing community.
  • Discussed ways to better engage businesses in Rosemont and improve the business climate here, especially at Rosemont Plaza.

The Board also received reports on…

  • the seven successful National Night Out events in Rosemont this past week;
  • plans for major development south of Mather that would affect Rosemont in the years ahead;
  • the Summer of Service Projects the Einstein and Rosemont High students have been doing this summer;
  • Progress our anti-graffiti team has made recently;
  • Our Welcome Bag team delivered some 55 bags to new residents and members since April
  • The Party in the Park event by the Cordova Recreation and Park District set for August 14 from 5-8pm at Lincoln Village Park (details at the RCA web site)
  • The CRPD fundraiser event on September 19 supporting scholarships for needy youth.
  • The Little Neighborhood Library Project proposed for Rosemont that would offer free book exchange for neighbors
