Nathan Sparks, long time RCA board member and officer, died peacefully at home on the evening of July 13 of pancreatic cancer, with his wife Ute and daughter Tanya at his side. He had been in hospice care for some time, but with his usual strong will and positive attitude, he beat the predictions. Nate served as RCA treasurer and membership coordinator, as well as Kiefer cleanup organizer – when he wasn’t helping with other community projects. He was always ready to step up and assist, and always had a good word for everyone. His positive attitude, humor and optimism were infectious. RCA extends to Ute and his family its condolences and appreciation for sharing Nate with his community.
The Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm on July 23 at The Power Center, 10455 Investment Circle, Rancho Cordova, CA. Military Honors will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd. Dixon, at 10:00am, July 28. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society. An obituary was published in the Sacramento Bee (SacBee.com) on Sunday, July 19.
