  • Make your own homemade potato chips and tortilla chips — thin sliced potatoes can be deep fried or baked and tortilla strips can be spritzed with olive oil, lime juice and salt then baked till crispy

  • Buy plates that are made from renewable and biodegradable products, products that are made from recycled plastic and if you have a compost the biodegradable bio-plastic can be thrown in your compost
  • Buy plates, chopsticks and other utensils that are made from bamboo

  • Make pom-poms out of old newspaper sprayed with red and gold colored water and allow to dry, cut into strips and tie together at the end or in the middle
  • Buy drinks that are in glass or aluminum
  • If you have a filtered water system, reuse wine bottles, use flower vases or glass pitchers filled with water, placed around the house, plain or flavored with cucumbers or lemons for guests to pour from
  • Use aluminum foil instead of plastic which can be recycled unless soiled
  • Place containers with clear lining indicating “paper”, “plastic”, “aluminum” and “glass” for your guest to use for recycling
