At each of its meetings the Sacramento City Unified School District Board presents the Stellar Students Award, a recognition of an outstanding student from one of our schools. Earlier in the year, Rosemont High student Roy Sanders was recognized for his display of good sportsmanship toward a Manteca High School football player who was injured during one of our games.

At a more recent Board meeting, the Rosemont debate team of Kaitlin Raymond and Kaylee Silber were recognized as co-Stellar Students. They took first place out of 30 teams in the JV division at the Santa Clara University Invitational Debate Tournament. Their picture is currently posted on the SCUSD website photo carousel! We’re so proud of them! Kudos to Chris Nelson, our debate instructor, for all of his work with these young ladies and all of the other Rosemont debate students. We also truly appreciate the work of Mark Hernandez, from the Sacramento Urban Debate League, who has developed our debate program this year and continues to provide us with coaching and financial support. We couldn’t have done this without him!
