Lately we have noticed some postings on the RCA Face Book page that are, simply stated, inappropriate. Not so much in the subject matter as in the tone and attitude in which ideas or opinions are expressed. A few people posting have attacked or said derogatory things about others, and then carried on the exchange with those who caution them about those comments. It is as if the remoteness and relative anonymity of the Internet emboldens them to say things that they (hopefully) would not say to a person directly. RCA has rules guiding such postings and is prepared to remove them from its page. It is not about censorship, but rather civility. RCA does not want to allow our fine community, even with our faults, to deteriorate into an on-line verbal brawl. We are better than that. So if you know someone who is inclined to say harsh things about someone else, encourage them to not expect to post it on the RCA social media sites – and maybe even encourage them to think twice about how best and civilly say it at all.
