In a recent meeting with Sheriff’s Department officials RCA was told that the SSD is changing to an “Information Based Policing system,” meaning it will be even more important that if you see a problem you need to report it to the proper authorities. If you don’t, law enforcement will never know the problem occurred and will re-direct its resources to areas where they hear of problems. That will result in potentially less coverage here than we may need, and problems may increase. So if the SSD does not know of a problem, it did not occur as far as they are concerned, and that make the problem bigger. If the problem is a criminal one and life threatening and currently happening, call 874-5111, the SSD’s direct 911 number. If it is not an emergency but still needs to be reported, call 874-5115. If it has to do with a vehicle violation call the CHP at 911 for emergencies or otherwise 464-1450.
