Do you know a prospective driver who could benefit from a driver safety class? If so, The California Highway Patrol has just the program for you. The CHP’s Start Smart program is a driver safety education class which targets new and future licensed teenage drivers between the age of 15-19 and their parents/guardians. It will cover collision avoidance techniques, driver responsibility, collision trends, distracted driving laws, alcohol related driving laws and the provisional license process. The program also offers an opportunity for new drivers and parents/guardians to ask CHP Officers clarifying questions. The classes run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on January 19, February 16 and March 22 at the CHP office in Rancho Cordova. Parents/guardians interested in signing up for the class will need to register for the class by calling (916) 464-1450 (space is limited). It is encouraged that parents/guardians attend the class with their teen driver.
