The RCA Board was briefed by Matt Buland of the Sacramento Tree Foundation on program they offer to plant more trees in the region. He noted the many benefits of trees, ranging from simple aesthetics to saving energy, to enhanced health and well-being. The Foundation is promoting a “NeighborWoods” program that facilitates communities in planning and planting more of the best kinds of trees for the needs and conditions. Already they are working with the Cordova Recreation and Parks District to hold a workday on Saturday, May 5, at Rosemont Community Park to plant a number of new trees. We are encouraging volunteers to come out and help, and learn some good tips how you can add trees to your own yard. It will be a fun time for all. And watch this RCA web site for links to more information about the “NeighborWoods” program.
