In recent weeks there have been several reports of West Nile Disease being found in dead birds in our area. This is a serious illness that should be reported immediately. Help us protect you and your community by reporting dead birds and squirrels. Authorities with the Sacramento Mosquito and Vector Control District will check out the report and determine if there is evidence of West Nile. Crows and magpies are particularly susceptible to the disease, so they make excellent early warning sentinels for virus activity. If you see a bird that has been dead for less than 24 hours, please call 1-877-WNV-BIRD (1-877-968-2473) or report it online here. For more information click HERE.
