The West Nile virus is still being detected around the Rosemont area according to the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito & Vector Control District, and the RCA Board plans a community briefing on the problem when it meets August 3 at 7pm at Atonement Church, 9242 Kiefer Blvd. All are invited to attend and learn more about this potentially serious disease and  how to avoid it.

Recently the District confirmed that a mosquito sample collected from this area tested positive. In addition, it found other birds that have also tested positive. To see a map of the locations click here: http://www.fightthebite. net/west-nile-virus-activity- map. The District will continue to monitor West Nile virus activity in the area and let us know if additional  birds or mosquito samples test positive. It will be conducting some ground spraying in various parks, along the river and other areas to suppress the mosquito populations which may pose a threat. You are encouraged to visit the District website HERE frequently for updates or to sign up for spray notifications.
