PLEASE NOTE:

The main runway at Travis Air-force Base will be closed until mid-September for construction/rehabilitation. In the interim, flight crews seeking to achieve their required training will be operating at several Northern California airports, including Sacramento International Airport and Sacramento Mather Airport.

Area residents will likely notice this increased military training tempo as the aircraft are quite large and can be noisy. Under normal circumstances military training occurs primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. There is usually only one heavy aircraft working in the airport traffic pattern at a time. Training activity is usually limited to one hour in duration. Due to the operational need of the flight crews, all of these normal parameters are likely to be exceeded, especially aircraft operating after 7 p.m. Flight crews will need to conduct night training in the dark. Sunset in the Sacramento region currently occurs at 8:31 p.m.

Any inquiries may be directed to the noise email address for the Sacramento Department of Airports (Department) at planenoiseinfo@saccounty.net. The Department of Airports is happy to answer any questions any of you may have.
