Our Golden Empire Elementary School is focusing on making leaders of our students by boldly stating that goal. Recently a new reminder of that appeared on campus in the form of a large mural. The “Lead” mural was envisioned, created and designed by Mr. Mike Mitchell, a kindergarten teacher and artist here at Golden Empire Elementary. Mr. Mitchell and other teachers and staff painted the mural over the weekend of March 11 to surprise the students upon their return to school. The LEAD mural reminds our students that everyone is a leader–each student has special gifts and talents in which they show leadership. Golden Empire is proud of our involvement with The Leader in Me program, a school-wide implemented program based on Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The Golden Empire teachers, staff, and community want to honor their students’ developing leadership skills, highlighting the fact that everyone can be a leader!
